my diary

Went to the shops :-)

I went to the shops yesterday (Thursday the 9th).

I didn’t really have anything to do, but I could feel that I would become sad, so I decided to do something with my life. I dressed up first because there’s no point if I’m not cute. It gives me a confidence boost (even if I dress strangely). I felt really nice.

The things I brought with me:

There’s something really nice about just being out of the house. And walking. It’s the human instinct to be active and find new things, I guess. I spent four and a bit hours out before I got home. And I really loved it! I walked right along the beach until I got to the bus stop. I didn’t even get out my iPod. It felt great.

Cosmo-Shiki on the beach.
I didn't bring my Uyuni toploader with me so I made do with my Cosmo-Shiki cheki for the photo.

An old lady at the bus stop complimented me on my outfit. It made my day, I think. I just read my book at the stop until the bus came, and then I spent my whole bus ride reading too. It’s hard to read in contact lenses but I’m getting the hang of it! Which is good. I need to train my eyes up to avoid going blind which is a real possibility for me plus I just need to start reading regularly again. Then I walked the 350 metres from the bus station to the shopping centre. The weather was really nice.

First I stopped over at the same chain I work at. Not the same location, mind you! I work in the city, which is way further away than this shopping centre… unfortunately. The commute is awful especially because I don’t drive. I haven’t actually eaten from here in at least a year and I didn’t remember if the food was good or not. It was a bit expensive… but the food was alright!

Then I went wandering in the shopping centre. There wasn’t really much that appealed to me. Nothing was good in K-mart even though I went there for homewares which they have in abundance. Oh well. I went to check JB Hi-Fi instead… because a tech store is always nice, right? Well, wrong. The only thing that interested me was their portable CD players which they kept on the floor… and were $100!!!

Excuse you! I’m not paying that amount for that product. They’re fragile and break easily. I know this because my old one was the exact same model!!! My God. The modern ones aren’t even that good… I should buy one from eBay or Mercari Japan sometime though.

I found a cute tokidoki bag at Miniso, though. I didn’t even know they had tokidoki stuff…! I’m really happy about it. It’s pink and white! And the pink coordinated nicely with my outfit for the day.

Mirror selfie with my flip phone... what do you think? :-)

I attached the things that were hanging on my existing bag (alien themed cheki holder with Cosmo-Shiki cheki inside, thrifted giraffe baby toy) to this bag instead, emptied my old bag and just put it inside of the. I don’t know if I’ll start taking this bag to work yet or if I’ll stick with the old black bag from Target instead.

I wandered around IKEA a lot… that mirror selfie was actually taken in there. Obvious because my room is not that clean nor is it so white. I browsed the plushies but held back from buying the bear astronaut or the UFO thingy to put Shimizu (my IKEA alien plush, named after…well…Yoshiyuki Shimizu…) inside. Nothing else took my fancy.

A lady in there complimented my outfit, though! I said I loved her skirt first, but then she turned around and said she loves my everything. I thanked her of course. I went to the food court and I bought chocolate instead of anything useful. Four whole block. They were super duper cheap!!! And they taste good, which is the most important thing.

I did some more wandering, checked the cinema (nothing good playing)… and then started going home. Because I’m an easily tired out mouse, and I had done enough for the day. Maybe I’d find more to do if I had a friend to hang out with.

I read a bit on the bus. Then my eyes started straining so I just turned on my iPod. Easy listening all the way back to the bus stop! …then I decided, “oh, I’ll just go a slightly different way,” and got totally lost because I was without a GPS. I panicked a bit but I kid you not Teruo Nakano coming on shuffle saved me. God bless.

I didn’t write anything in my journal. I also didn’t get much art done. I bought certain band merch which I’m very excited for. But most importantly I had a lot of fun with my day!! :-)
