A Look Into My Room...
My collection.
Things have been moved around. I'm not going to annotate it all thins time, but you can get a general sense of what I enjoy collecting here, not including my teknologie such as phones, laptops, etc. which should probably get their own pages someday.
I like clowns, wizards, bears and my robot son Emilio in the back. He's an EMIGLIO robot, specifically a SCOOTER 2000 model as I am in Australia, although I would love a DJエミリオ from Japan or an EMIGLIO from Europe or the United States. I would like to get into ball jointed dolls but they are an expensive hobby. I suppose having one who I love very much would be great for figure photography, but I would rather photograph a Gouf.
My setup.
This is the state of my desk. Love it or leave it.
Two computers here: Myrrh (daily driver) and Cricket (my home server, soon). Both picked up secondhand off Facebook Marketplace, the only thing that service is even good for. Same for the monitors!
My policy with monitors is as follows:
- ULTRA-WIDE gamer monitors are terrible. Avoid at all costs.
- 16:9 is crap but we all tolerate it.
- 16:10 is good for laptops.
- 3:2 is ideal for laptops.
- 4:3 is great.
- 5:4 is heavenly.
- 1:1 is not only mythical, it's perverted. Avoid even if you find.
With vertical monitors, it's a bit of a different story, dependent on what kind of work you're doing. But no work that I can conceive of requires a disgusting widescreen.
Your home is not a cinema, and the computer is definitely not the television, even if all your shows and movies are stored on it. Boxy monitors are closer to the aspect ratio of the human eye, and every (and I mean EVERY) monitor looks better on them. They can be very cheap. Grab one while you still can!
...well, rant over.
My pandas.
What can I say? I'm upsettingly into collecting pandas; despite this, I have no real interest in real-life pandas! I'm a curious man.
This is not all of them, because some of my pandas are in the form of clothing, bags, charms hanging off my bags, you get the idea... What started this obsession is simple: I like panda mice, but panda mice don't like me. That is to say, there is no "panda mouse merchandise", and it's hard to collect mice when the only search results give you Mickey.
But pandas are suitably black-and-white for my tastes, and not only are they monochrome, they are easy to find in thrift stores... as such, I have thrifted a sizeable amount of pandas... This was all kicked off by one IKEA panda which I bought for five dollars. I felt overly attached to him by the time I left the store.
Oh, and Toda's questionable cousin is here, because he's a type of panda.
