Do you need a home for your site?

I own several websites, but all of them combined are just over 150MB large and most of that is MP3 files. My allocated space is, well, a lot larger than that. That means I'm paying for a whole lot of server space that I just don't plan on using, so I've decided I'll lend some space free of charge to anybody who has something interesting to share.

If a little personal website sounds right for you, but you hate filetype restrictions or don't want to pay or just want an alternative to the usual places, I'm open to hostees! If you can drag and drop your files from one folder to another, you'll have no problem with me. FileZilla is great for this.

Bringing your own domain is more than acceptable. I'll help you point it to my server if you don't know how.

What I'm looking for

All that I ask of you is that you have something interesting or unique to share with the world.

  • You must have basic knowledge of HTML and CSS that you can show me. I am not strict. Mailing me a .html file with some inline <style> formatting to show me what you've got is enough.
  • You must not create a beautiful wasteland (a pretty website with nothing to see). An "about me" page on its own does not qualify! If you love to play with CSS most of all, why not try offering free to use layouts?
  • You must actually want to make your website. Updating it should excite you, not feel like a chore. I've known too many people who fell out of the hobby because they weren't into it in the first place.

And remember, passion is what I want. I want to feel your love through the screen. What might this look like?

  • Teach people something - about the world, your opinions, or that thing you like
  • Offer something useful - free to use layouts, resources, guides
  • Showcase a personal pursuit - your co-ords, your tennis hobby, your collections

Or anything along these lines. If you work hard, the passion for what you produce will shine through, and your visitors will probably love it even if they know nothing about it.

Your website can be a work in progress as long as it's earnest and already interesting. We'll come back to check. It can also be largely unchanging, if you like; I won't delete your site for inactivity.
